  2. Mar 30,  · For anyone who wants an easy introduction as to why I think so highly of this album I point you firstly and most importantly to Fag and then to What would you do. Both have such a fantastic level of brilliance with the way the piano, drums, bass and whole song start kind of illogically out of step - but also in time and then comes together 4/5().
  3. Lyrics to 'Monster' by Steppenwolf: Once the religious, the hunted and weary Chasing the promise of freedom and hope Came to this country to build a new vision Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope Like good Christians, some would burn the witches.
  4. The album was Steppenwolf's most political album, making references to important issues at the time, such as the Vietnam War. The album was the first Steppenwolf album not to feature a US top ten hit, though two singles from the album cracked the top "Move Over" and "Monster".
  5. Dec 19,  · This is my favorite Steppenwolf album and I feel that, the Top 40 Hits aside, Monster contains the group's shining accomplishments with respect to songwriting, musicianship and studio production. Just as a point of reference, when Steppenwolf disbanded the second time, I owned every album which Sparrow, Steppenwolf and John Kay (solo) had ever.
  6. Jun 19,  · IMO, Side 1 of Monster is solid all the way through with the hard hitting title suite, plus "Draft Resister" and "Power Play." Side 2 has 2 great songs ("Move Over" and "From Here To There Eventually") and 2 pieces of filler (the perfunctory instrumental "Fag" and "What Would You Do IF I Did That To You").
  7. Find album reviews, stream songs, credits and award information for Monster - Steppenwolf on AllMusic - - The group's most political album, tackling.
